How to remove odor from front loader washing machines?

Question:My Kenmore front loader has a mildewy odor even though I leave the door open between washes.

Answers:
Run the machine with arm and hammer backing soda and borax. That will do the trick

Run your washer full of hot water with 1 cup of bleach through the whole cycle.
run some backing soda through the machine
I have tried both bleach and baking soda and even used vinegar with a hot water wash. It seemed like it helped for awhile but the smell is back in mine also. I am going to research this and answer you again later.
run a hot water cycle with a cup of vinegar. it'll take out the smell without leaving it too vinegary smelling!
i also have a kenmore front loader washing machine.

everytime i load my clothes i put a cup of baking soda together with the detergent i'm using. it takes away the odor of the clothes plus it cleans the washing machine.

you may want to run a cycle of hot water & baking soda without your load of clothes since it smells now.

good luck.
you may want to call your local repair shop and ask them about this. It is possible that something has managed to get inside of your machine and needs to be removed. (that or its not draining all the way, and the water is becoming nasty inside of it)
