How do i get nasty smell from new shower curtain liner?
Question:I just paid $6 for a nice vinyl shower curtain liner and it smells awful.
I washed it on delicate cycle and put vinegar, baking soda, and rinsed in fabric softener and it still smells. What else can I do? Thanks for your help and have a nice evening.

This just might do the trick.
Fill your washer with warm water, add 1 cup of "Arm and Hammer baking soda or 20 Mule Team Borax. Let the soda swish around in the water a minute or two then put the shower curtain in. Let soak about 1/2 hr. Then Add 1/4 cup detergent. Put in one or two old towels, White or beige so that no fading happens.
Let the complete cycle run. Then put the shower curtain into the dryer for about 3 or 4 minutes or so on gentle or permanent press. Remove shower curtain promptly and spread out to cool or it will wrinkle before it can be hung.
Baking Soda is a sweetener for many things.
Towels or wash cloths that have soured will come out nice and fresh with 1 cup of baking soda and your usual amount of detergent.
Also, your refrigerator will be squeaky clean and smell so good if you use about 1/4 cup to one gallon of water when you wipe out the refrigerator shelves sides, a bottom of frig along with the freezer section. AND no rinsing needed unless there is a lot of spills in the bottom of frig.
Baking soda will also remove some stains.
One tsp. baking soda a tiny bit of water will remove stubborn stains on counters if it applied to stain and let soak a few minutes then just wipe off.
Old style counter tops will brighten up when washed with a solution like I use on the refrigerator.
let it air outside. the smell will eventually go away.
wash again using bleach, then in the shower spray with vinegar to stop mould
Pay about $15 and get a fabric shower curtain liner. They're great. Just throw it in the washer and it looks great
