Do cotton shirts shrink when you wash them or only when you dry them?

Question:

Answers:
If you wash them on a hot cycle (generally the "whites" cycle), they'll shrink greatly. And then will shrink more when you dry them. Try to wash on the color cycle and then hang dry.

they shrink when you wash them which really annoys me cause i always buy t shirts that fit and when i wash them they are too small, why doesnt the makers of them preshrink the fabric first??! idiots!
Hot water shrinks cotton. Cold in fine, but as you said, definately don't use the dryer. Hang dry and throw in dryer with a dryer sheet after it's dried to get rid of the wrinkles. :)
Try a better quality shirt. Good clothes either don't shrink, or shrink only a little.
