If you are in the UK, why not pop into your local library and ask for the WHICH reports dealing with washing machines.
You'll be able to read how the testers rate the machines and which ones came out top and why.
Miele, AEG or Bosch, in that order.

AEG. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago. I can honestly say it´s great. I used to put my machine on at night before going to bed, like this the clothes would be ready to hang first thing in the morning. Now just program it to come on at 6,30am or when ever I wish. AEG, GREAT
