What's a good detergent for very smelly clothes?
Question:Currently using Gain, but the clothes are still coming out smelling like sweat. Also using the gentle cycle to prevent damaging the expensive items.
Any suggestions are helpful!

1. I would try using the hottest water possible. Any detergent should work, although I prefer Tide.
2. Use more water as well. i.e. If you are washing a small load - use the medium water level. If you are washing a large load, split it.
3. Dumping a small box of baking soda into the wash water or even a cup or two of vinegar.
4. Soaking the wash for about a half hour or so wouldn't hurt either.
These are just a few suggestions. I was told to use the vinegar to get the smell of moth balls out of stored clothing and it worked for me. It may help in this instance as well. Good luck!
Try adding baking soda to the wash to get out lingering smells.
I use Tide liquid detergent & Downy fabric softener. My clothes always smell so good.

You will have to try different laundry detergents to see what works with your water supply. Some detergents work better in hard water than others and some leave an odor in soft water. Go ahead and use the regular cleaning cycle and sort your laundry before washing it. If your 'expensive items' won't handle machine washing, then do them by hand.
Gain works very well or add a touch of baking soda too
I use All with Non Chlorine Bleach
try adding some oxy clean type product to your wash. It will boost your detergent and remove the smells. It will work in any wash cycle. I use it to get my sons stinking work clothes clean and smelling better.
i found a combination of 1 cap of Fairy non bio liquid and a scoop of Daz works wonders on smells and stains. even on gentle washes and cool tempuratures.
whatever you do dont use vanish, it bleaches and doesnt come out of clothes properly on gentle washes and has been known to cause skin irritations
I use Tide with febreze and it lets the clothes smell really good. Or use snuggle a fabric softener that smells really good.
