Smelly trainers . how to get rid of that cat p#ss smell?
Question:my boys trainers are virtualy new but they stink ! ive put them in the washing machine to no avail .. help please
Answers:
Couple of things may help - a solution of vinegar in warm water left for an hour or so & then rinsed thoroughly. Another one which often seems to help is sprinking the (slightly dampened) insole with bicarbonate of soda - that's a good smell remover.
Of course - if it smells that close to wee - you could always just try the powder you can buy for putting into cat litter to stop the smells!!
You wont get rid of it trust me! The only thing to do is sling them, buy some new ones and get rid of the cat!
The only thing I know to do is bleach them...but then that'll ruin them.
You can try spraying them daily with Febreze or Lysol spray, but I think you should make your boys put deodorant on their clean feet (underside). I've forced my husband to do that and his feet never smell. I do it too. you may have to throw out the sneakers if the first tips don't work.
wear cotton socks everytime with your trainers.
keep them outside for a good airing, use neutralising spray to clean them.
Get some of those odour eater type insoles. They really work.
(The ones that say they've got charcoal in are the best - I don't understand the science but it does work)
pour white vinigar in them, this should remove the pong.
Listed below are the materials needed to make the Cat, Dog, and Pet Urine Odor Eliminator Formula:
- 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
- Baking Soda
- Liquid Hand Soap
Other items that you will need include:
- a clean, empty 8 oz. or 16 oz. container
- plastic spoon
- waterproof gloves (such as dishwashing gloves)
- paper towels
I recommend getting a large bottle (32 oz.) of 3% hydrogen peroxide. You might want to buy more than one bottle if you have more than one area that needs to descented. I can find it at Walmart, K-Mart (Big K), or Target for about $0.75. One box (16 oz.) of baking soda costs less than $0.40 and makes countless applications of the solution.
I like to make the formula in a clean 8-oz. yogurt cup, but you can use any type of 8oz. or 16oz. container. You can also use baking measuring cups to make the formula - 1cup equals 8oz. and 2 cups equals 16oz.
On new, wet urine areas, wear your waterproof gloves to soak up as much of the urine as possible with the paper towels. I usually press firmly down into carpet pad. This enables me to soak up a good amount of the urine.
On old urine areas where the odor has been inbedded in your carpet there is no preparation necessary. I have not experimented with urine areas older than 48 hours, but I would think that as long as this solution gets soaked into the carpet and pad it should deodorize it. You may need to apply more than one application.
PLEASE DO NOT STORE THIS SOLUTION IN ANY TYPE OF CLOSED CONTAINER BECAUSE IT MAY EXPLODE.
THIS IS DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OXYGEN MOLECULES THAT ARE GENERATED WHEN MIXING THE SOLUTION.
A friend sprinkled baking soda (Bicarbonate of Soda) into her shoes to remove the stink..of her feet not cat p#ss.
It worked but she had to do it a couple of times, then she soaked them in detergent mixed with dettol.
The next day, she washed them.
Good luck.
p.s. lots of washing will do...no need to throw them away.
Charcoal oder-eaters are the answer, they really do work for smelly feet, but don't know about the cat's wee, very hard to get rid of.
Bucket Job, same happened to me.
Go to the Pet store and get odorz out. Or any enzymatic cleaner for that matter. You can only get these kind of cleaners at Pet stores. This will take care of your problem.
you can't get rid of it my daughter had trainers like that and we used to put them outside on the landing windowsill ever night cause i couldn't stand the smell, tried everything to get rid of it nothing worked
simple! amputate there feet!
There is nothing you can do - once there is phonemally stubborn. You could try deodorising sprays but in my experience they ending up smelling of the spray + that awful smell = sickly combitation.
The next time you get them new trainers its worth getting some odour eating insoles and get them to wear clean cotton socks.
Isn't there a product called 'odout eaters'? insoles of some kind?
Hi, If the cat has used the trainers for a toilet you will never get rid of the smell better chuck them and get some more trainers ( oh and get rid of the cat!!!)
CHANGE THE INSOLES AND USE BICARB IN EM IF THE TRAINERS AINT LEATHER THEN BICARB EVERY DAY N MAKE HIM WEAR COTTON SOX
