How can I clean a ceramic glass stovetop?
Question:I fried some bacon and some hot grease landed on the stovetop. I tried using the special stovetop cleaner, but it seems that the surface has "bubbled." Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know how to fix this?
Answers:
I have found that Bar Keepers Friend is one of the best things to clean things like ceramic tops.
I would contact the manufacturer and explain what you already did and the results. Then I would ask for other safe ways to clean the appliance if the special cleaner did not work.
My cooktop came with a razor scraper for cooked on messes that can't be scrubbed off. You can get one at any hardware store. I doubt the surface has bubbled, since they are pretty impervious to food items, but I agree that if in doubt, you should call the manufacturer.
They sell a special cream scrub for ceramic stoves. You can find it at Bed, Bath and Beyond or Linens and Things. With little effort it gets them clean. Using it right after any spill (when the ceramic cools) is best. Also, that scraper will probably help too if you haven't been cleaning it regularly up until now. (Other suggestion...let go of the pig..LOL)
