carpet shampooer (like a rug doctor) with NO ADDED SOAP- just water should get it up.
i use mox some lady sells it to me it really works
Downy = fabric softner??
Just wash with water and blot with paper towels.
you should be able to just use a bucket of water and a scrub brush and then suck it up with a wet vac or shop vac.
try the woolite oxy-pod. it is about 4.00 and you can get it at wal-mart or stores like that. works great for everything else.
Like the first answer I would use a shampooer for carpet. No soap just water I would use a luke warm water almost cold water to get the fabric softener out.
Oh boy! It looks like this is a big problem. If I were you I would contact manufacturer. A quick search found this whole thread on problems of the same sort.

Whatever you do, do not use laundry detergent because it will set the stain. You can use undiluted dishwashing liquid or shampoo and rub them into the carpet. Then use white vinegar to neutralize the soap so that it doesn't attract dirt and dust becoming a stain.
I find "Spot Shot" carpet stain remover is a miracle worker...
(not shot spot, it's spot shot... I always get it backwards *G*)
maybe you should use a carpet cleaner on the carpet
boy---been there done that.
1. ok.use a bucket of clean warm water and a clean rag...resaturate the area and blot up as much as you possibly can.
2. Towel dry
3. Use Oxi Clean and a scrub brush, put a generous aound of the OXi Clean on the spot and scrub really good with your brush.
4. Now get some more clean warm water and rinse it with a clean rag...remember to towel dry again.
This will bring up the 'stain' area.
I have even used this on a large red wine (merlot) stain.
I love Oxi Clean.works great.
Good luck
