Which is the best way to wash a handknitted wool item without having it felt up?
Question:
Answers:
I would wash it in cold water on the gentle cycle in the washing machine. I would dry the sweater by laying it on top of the dryer while you dry your towels (on hot heat) in the dryer. Turn the sweater over every 15 minutes until it dries. The sweater will hold its shape. You could wash it in the kitchen sink, but do not twist to wring it out. Let the water run out of the sink.Leave the sweater in the sink and let it drain the water out of the sweater for about 1 hour. Then lay it someplace flat but make sure the sweater, can get air on both sides or the sweater will mildew.
wool felts in hot water so I would say hand wash it in cool water with woolite.
I woulld suggest hand washing in warm or cool water and Woolite
you might want to take it to the drycleaners
Handwash it in cold water with Woolite, and lay flat to dry to help it retain it's shape.
Hand wash in cold water with Woolite. Dry flat. I use an old screen across the bathtub (inside) or across two chairs (outside) to allow for air circulation.
