How can I soften fabric?
Question:I just bought a pair of Dickies work pants, my only problem is that they're like wearing a rock. The fabric is so stiff. Is there any way to soften up this fabric (cotton/polyester) quickly? (Besides wearing and washing them a lot)
The pants also have some sort of stain protector on them, if this is what is making them stiff, I am willing to lose that.They are work pants after all.
Any ideas?
Answers:
Throw them in the dryer for a half an hour, if you have the time.. with a damp towel and a dryer sheet.
Otherwise, if you have little time, your just going to have to wear them until you can wash them.
fabric softener
You really must wash off the stain protector. Try washing them several times in a row. Use Downey liquid fabric softener. It won't make a huge difference in Dickies, but it will help a bit.
soak in fabric conditioner for an hour than rinse and spin in the washer.
Dickies are great;
I would suggest washing them in bleach, say one half cup to a tubful, maybe with a couple of bath towels should do it
