You may also try a baking soda and water solution.
I purchased my own rug cleaner, it was around 60 dollars. You can rent them at the store for under 20 bucks. Put a little, I mean not much at all, laundry detergent in the tank with very hot water, and a few spoons of baking soda. Works great!

You could use a good carpet cleaner that comes in a can, but you would be doing a lot of scrubbing if it's really all over it. And depending on the color of your carpet, like if it's lighter, you might end up with splotchiness, since it was spot cleaned. But I know those carpet cleaners usually do work well, even for set in stains.
Afterwards, you should probable sprinkle your carpet with a carpet deodorizer because I'm sure the beer left an odor behind as well.
Grab you some FAST ORANGE,i think it's made by GOJO. Prep the spots with a few sprays of water and use the fast orange and rub it in a little.
You can rent them Ho's for around 25-30 bucks.Plus cleaner,I use my laundry soap the tide with frebreeze. It smells better.
