What can i use to get the smell of urine out of my carpet?
Question:it has been shampooed, used carpet cleaner, stain remover and nothing works.
Answers:
The smell will always be in the carpet, especially if it's gone through to the padding. You will have to get new carpeting when the time is right.
have your cat poop on it. You'll forget all about the urine.
febreeze works GREAT!!
If the poop doesn't work, you can always try vomit.
Sound like you need a dog catcher to me.
change the carpet
Try showering right after you go.
OOPS I thought I was in the marriage and divorce section. I thought you were talking about your privates.
Baking soda will odor eliminate, and its inexpensive too. Rewet the area with water, sprinkle baking soda and rub in, allow to dry, and vacuum up.
You might try cinnamon oil, it's great at killing tons of smells. And smells great too. Dogs and cats don't like the smell of cinnamon. So it can be a great repellent to keep pets from (taking care of business) on the carpet.
Some pet stores carry a special concentrated cleaner that you can mix with water and spray on effected areas. It's called "Nature's Miracle". (I think it also helps neutralize the urine.)
It works really well - on animal or human urine since it's the same basic compounds.
The problem, however, is it is likely that the urine soaked through the carpet into the padding underneath and it will never really come out.
This happened in my family with my brother's cat when we were little. After my parents had him declawed, the litter hurt his paws for a few days so he looked for somewhere soft -- and peed on the carpet. That smell was always faintly there no matter what (though the Nature's Miracle helped more than any other cleaner) until we took out the carpet in favour of hardwood.
Good luck!
Non chlorine bleach and a shampoo/rinse. It may not help at all. If you dont want your house to smell like Amonia it would be best to keep your pets outside.
Keep in mind that 1 you have carpet, and 2 a pad underneath it. That also holds a lotr of the smells as well. Take it out and replace it. And keep your pets outside. All you animals are gonna do is piss it up all over again. So Your throwing away money
Odoban. I bought some at Sam's club once.
There are probably enzymes that would work on the smell but I saw this from a carpet cleaning website.
Remove Pet Odor from Carpeting
Q: How do I get out pet urine from my carpet? Some of the stains are old and I am constantly steam-cleaning my carpets.
A: Sounds like the urine is also in the padding and possibly in the subfloor underneath the carpet. Steam cleaning will not help at this point. Urine is humectant and feeds on moisture. You probably notice the odor gets worse the more you steam clean it.
You will need to get to the source of the odor. The carpet will need to be pulled back and the padding replaced, in most cases, because all padding is just a dense sponge. This urine is trapped in this sponge and is very difficult to extract out.
The next step will be treating the floor. Wood or concrete slab floors are porous so the urine, with the help of gravity, soaks into these pores and needs to be treated and sealed. If the subfloor is not properly treated and sealed before putting back the new pad and freshly cleaned carpet, that familiar odor will return to the carpet when it gets a little humid or when the house is closed up for a while. Your sensitive-nosed dog will also return to that familiar odor to do his business.
There is a cleaning substance that you can use to first pre-treat your carpet.. it is a spray with a special enzyme in it that eliminates the odor of urine from animals and humans.. most stores that rent carpet cleaning equipment have the pre-treat substance available.. call the local rental stores and ask them what they recommend.. I bet you find it at most all of them.. this is what they specialize in.. they know what to suggest. I can tell you for a fact.. it does work and it is not expensive.. find it, use it, and the odor will be gone.. good luck..
whatever kind of cleaner you get it must have enzymes in it.
