How much will it shrink?

Question:my girlfriend got me a 2X hoodie by mistake, and I need it to be XL. i've already tried shrinking it with hot water and a dryer, but it doesnt seem to have done anything. I've only done it twice though... do I just need to keep doing this until it gets to my size? will it eventually get to an XL, Or is there a certain point at which it will stop shrinking?

50% poly
50% cotton

Answers:
IT WONT SHRINK MUCH BUT YOU CAN WASH IT IN WARM WATER AND DRY IT ALSO ON WARM, IT WILL SHRINK ALITTLE

Take it back to the store for exchange. Why are you making things difficult?

Take it back to the store and exchange it for the size that fits you. No harm done. Your girl won't hate you for it. She'll understand.

It won't cost you a penny to exchange it.
It isn't going to shrink much, if at all. Polyester doesn't shrink unless you melt (burn) it. Cotton does. With 50/50 content you won't get shrinkage. Sorry. Go for the baggy look.
That is what the poly is for. To reduce shrinkage. So it will always be large. Scissors and thread or get a smaller one - now you may have a problem in that you washed it.
It won't shrink. You could try taking it back, but you have washed it and some stores won't take it back after it's been washed. Go for the baggy look, it's a hoodie, they're supposed to be baggy!
