Unknown wet-looking stains all over different clothes-what to try and in what order?
Question:I've noticed that in my laundry lately, my clothes come out with blotches where the fabric is a darker color as if wet, but it is perfectly dry. I keep thinking it may be an oil-like stain, but I can't figure out the source. I'm not noticing the stain before it goes into the washing machine, nor when the whole item is wet. It is only after it has been completely dried that the stains seem to present themselves. I may be spilling coffee with cream on myself and not even knowing it (some of us are born klutzes) or pressing up against something oily during the day and not making the correct association yet. Worse still, it could be something in my washer/dryer. Without buying a new washer/dryer or having a repairperson come out, what can I do on my own that might help this problem? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Sounds to me like your washer machine is leaking oil from the motor. I had an old washer once that did that and the only thing that would take out the stain is to put a little dawn liquid or other dish washing soap and let it soak. Unfortunately, until you get a washer that isn't leaking oil, you will continue to get this mystery spots appearing on your clothes. Rewashing doesn't do a lot of good, cause they will come out with new stains.
it could be the soap your using, or it could be from the soap not mixing with the water throroughly enough during cycles.
Some fabric softener liquids, have small traces of oils from the perfumes, and fragrances in them.
Also keep in mind what the materials are that you are washing. silks, rayons, and taffetas will show oil looking stains just from machine washing. (they should be dry cleaned)
Some micronized, and mercerized cottons (softer cuts of cotton) can also be delicate to water, and detergents.
Good luck
sounds like the greesy stains caused by fabric softner sheets, check the back of the box it lists several options for removing these stains.
if you use liquid washing detergent that could be it because i had the same problems and i just started running the water first then add detergent then clothes.it solved my problem.I was pouring it straight on my clothes and i think that where stains were coming from.
