What do you do differently when you spring clean that you don't do when you clean normally?
Question:
Answers:
Washed the walls and ceilings. I wash my curtains regularly because I have a cat that loves to sit in windows and leave his DNA (fur) behind. Spring cleaning also means dejunking all closets and drawers, and going through my teaching resources and passing on what I haven't used in the past six months. Same for the book shelves. (unless it's one of those *forever* kind of books.
Drapes, walls and light fixtures.
Clean out my closet.=]
Clean behind the washer and dryer - disgusting but necessary.
Move -all- the furniture and rebuff the floors, and wash every cloth item in the house whether it's dirty or not - just a fresh start!
You open up all the windows and let the clean fresh air blow through. Sometimes it is too cold to do that with Fall cleaning.
*Note you didn't hear me say that I do it. Lol! Gee, I better get at it...I have lived in this house for 18 years! Goodness knows what I will find!
Wash and iron curtains
wipe down walls
move washer/dryer/refrigerator and clean behind/underneath
clean inside oven
clean dishwasher
wipe down blinds
Move all of the furniture and dust behind/underneath...you know, I remember learning in 6th grade science class that dust is primarily composed of human skin particles...I think I just found a man under my couch! ;-)
I also wipe down all the walls, clean light fixtures, etc...normal weekly cleaning doesn't usually consist of these tasks...spring cleaning and when my mother comes to visit is when these things get done!
Check out the book, "Speed Cleaning 101: Cut Your Cleaning Time in Half" Author: Laura Dellutri.
What I liked about this book, is that it breaks everything down into less over whelming sections. Its very detailed but easy to read, I read it whenever I need a little motivation to clean.
I love to clean...yes you read right! But when I spring clean, That's the time when I take everything off my walls and clean the walls, light fixtures, curtains and I get down on my hands and knees to use a little scrub brush on my Kitchen and Bathroom floors. During my regular cleaning I just wipe a dust cloth over the walls--helps when it is time to spring clean-- and mop the floors. So really Spring cleaning is just a deeper clean than normal!
Wash all wood work and curtains. .. wash windows..don't have time to do this every week.
