Steel wool/Brillo pad
clean it.
let me know as soon as you find out! I hate when that happens/
You can buy a 00 steel wool pad at the hardware store. (not a brillo pad that has detergent in it, just plain steel wool.) Obviously with the iron unplugged and cool temp you can scrub your iron with this no water) and it will remove deposits.and burnt stuff.
With the iron cold, use Windex and scrub it with a dish-type brush. After all the burnt stuff is off spray it with clear water and wipe well to make sure all the cleaning solution is gone.
Id try steel wool with a product called "goo gone". It's amazing but stinky - use in well ventilated area.
Toothpaste can be used to safely and gently clean the plate of an iron. Another great solution is to make a runny paste of vinegar and baking soda and gently scrub the iron's plate with that.
Do NOT use brillo pad/steel wool or you'll end up scratching your iron's plate resulting in snagging fine fabrics as you iron.
Mean Green super strength cleaner, sold at any store will clean anything, and the price for the bottle is real cheap,I use it to clean the aluminum rims on my car, works great
goo gone they sell it in home depot it works on most things
Use "00" steel wool, on a cool surface. "00" will not scratch (you an even use it on glass). It should be OK even if you have a teflon iron surface.
