I use a spatula to remove all the 'stuff' i can... then I use soft scrub and a rag... after it is wiped clean, i finish off with Mr Clean's Magic eraser... it works like a charm!

I would use a mixture of household white vinegar and a little dishsoap. Leaves a streak free shine.
There is a special glass top stove cleaner you can get at your local Home Depot, Lowes, Bed Bath and Beyond, Linens and Things, etc. Only use those cleaners made for glass top stoves, they don't cause scratching. Usually they come with a little scouring pad made to use with the cleaner. If you use it after every meal, your stove will stay looking nice and shiny.
We always had to use a cleaner and then scrape it off with a razor. I would go to a store that sells them, like home depot or Lowe's maybe and ask if they have any better cleaner too.

Good Luck.
I personally use Weiman. It is a thick liquid.
First if there is a lot of grease, I spray some Windex on it and wipe off. Otherwise, I squirt it on, wipe around, then wipe off with a paper towel. For stubborn spots you can spread it a little thick in that area, leave on a few minutes, then wipe off. Maybe use a little scrubbing on real tough spots. There are a lot of products out now that the stove tops have gotten so popular. When we got our first one Weiman was all there was. I included a link to show several products, but check out your local discount store for them. I buy mine at Walmart or Target. You can also find it at Lowes.
I use a razor blade to scrape off all the burnt/dried on food and then use the cleaner that came with my stove. I believe its called Wiemar's? you can buy it at Wal-mart, Lowes or Home Depot. You just put some on the the stove top and use a paper towel to wipe clean- it makes mine so shiny its like a mirror. But for everyday cleaning Windex works great.
I have tried many of the different products out there for glass ceramic top stoves. Finally I called the GE hotline, they suggested Weiman Cook Top Cleaner for Glass Cook Tops. After some research I found that many stove manufactures recommend this particular brand!! I purchase Weiman at Wal Mart, I believe it is $3.50 for a 10 oz bottle.

The best thing about Weiman is the cream buffs the surfaces to a beautiful shine, and protects your smooth top range!! It removes grease and food wonderfully.

I also have a soft plastic card shaped scraper, don't know what it's called. It has a smooth side, a side with ridges, on the top it has little soft scrubbers. It is great, I'm able to scrap off any food that happens to get burnt on the stove top and it works for pots and pans. I got mine from the Tupperware Lady, but my mom got hers from the Pampered Chef Rep.
When the surface is cool, clean with either dishwashing liquid, a paste of baking soda and water (3 parts baking soda to 2 parts water) or a specially formulated cooktop cleaner. Apply this with a paper towel or soft cloth.

Rinse thoroughly and towel dry. Do not use on soiled dishcloth or sponge to wipe the top; it may leave a film, which can cause discoloration the next time it is heated. If discoloration occurs, remove it with a specialty formulated cooktop cleaner.

Burned-on soil can be removed with a razor-blade scraper. Avoid abrasive cleaners and pads.

If your cooktop is in really bad shape, you will have to take more drastic action before you can have cleaning ease.

You can try a product called Bon Ami, which comes in a can, much like comet. This product can be safely used on mirrors, windows, windshields, etc. It has a mild pumice action. Use it very carefully with a soft, wet rag to remove heavy soiling. You can also use a mild ammonia solution along with a scrubbing-type sponge, Another product that will help remove stains and burned-on food is non-gel toothpaste, applied with a soft cloth.

Follow up these cleaning procedures by washing with dishwashing liquid and water and rinsing well. Rinsing with club soda will put a nice shine on the top surface.

There is an excellent product called Invisible Shield Surface Treatment. Using this allows you to do ‘preventive cleaning”. You apply this, and in the future when you clean, spills and burned-on food bead up. It makes your stovetop surface react as if it were nonstick cookware- spills wipe right off with just a damp cloth. You can safely use this on all surfaces except wood and paint-it works great on glass.
