How big...roomba?
Question:How big is the compartment theat holds the dirt in the roomba? I have a large kitchen dining, and living room area that is wood floors and area rugs,no carpeting. I want to be able to start it at night and have all three rooms done by morning. Is this possible? I have a dog that sheds like there is no tomorrow, and little kids running the house and yard all day.
If anyone out there has a roomba and a large open floor plan, please help me.

I have a roomba, and I wouldn't suggest running it in too large an area. I have 4 cats, one long-haired. I haven't had an issue with it filling up nearly as much as it losing power. Also, as for running it at night, they aren't as quiet as the commercials would like you to think.
I have a Roomba Discovery, 2 big dogs and six cats, tile floors and an area rug underneath the dining room table. If I run the Roomba every day, the floors stay relatively clean. The compartment has to be cleaned each time it's used. The housekeeper vacuums the house once weekly with the regular vacuum.
The problem is the rug. It has a thick pile and the Roomba doesn't clean it, not enough power. As a matter of fact, some of the hair will scrape off onto the rug at times, so, I block the Roomba from going onto the rug. I think it would be fine for a less dense rug.
I'm pretty happy with it, I used to vacuum every day and that sure got old! Mine was a gift from my mom, and I'm considering getting a more expensive model and using this one for the upstairs which has less traffic.
