Washing machine dispenser drawer?
Question:My drawer keeps going black with gunk, whats the problem and what can I do to stop it, I keep cleaning it.
Answers:
mine does too i don't think you can cure it, you may be putting to much detergent and fabric conditioner in so it isn't getting all washed away and then goes rotten, try a little less and see.
This is a damp area by its nature so it is difficult to keep it dry and stop it going black.
My mum has this problem and she only uses the drawer for fabric conditioner and uses tablets in the machine. Yet I'm the same and don't have the problem. The only thing I can think is that it has something to do with the water - perhaps hers is harder/softer than ours. She hasn't found a solution so otherwise I'm not much help!!
Use wash tablets directly in the drum (in a bag)
The drawer will stay clean longer but will need wiping out every so often
Mine always does this, I just take it out once a fortnight and give it a good lean with a tooth brush.
just s**t happens, i reckon it happens with everyones and mine included , i just wash it every so ofton
i put soda crystals in mine once a week and it takes all the dirt away.
Its black mould! You can clean it with distilled (white) vinegar, or a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda dissolved in a pint of hot water, they're both anti fungal. Leave the drawer open when you're not using the machine as well.
The Black Gunk is rancid detergent grease.got oto asda, 55 pence bag of washing soda, throw the lot in, very hot wash, clean machine.use some for your soap dispenser also.
i think everybody has same problem, its mould due to damp try drying the dispenser after wash this will work, but a bit of a faff
just throw the powder in the drum with your clothes and use the dispenser for the conditioner or use bold then give it a wipe out now and then
Maybe you're overloading it with powder and conditioner? Try bold 2 in 1 tablets which are less messy and don't need fabric softener.
its just the powder i went to tablets for the same reason i think they are grate
