How do you clean a fireplace?

Question:

Answers:
Well, if it's only the fireplace itself~ remove any logs and the grate (if u have one) then I've always used a whisk broom and dust pan (very carefully or you'll get ashes everywhere!) and remove all ashes~ you can use them in flower beds or compost pile. But, IF it's the flue you're going to have to call a professional, a chimney sweep, they are the ones that get all the black dangerous soot out! Just search for chimney flue cleaning on Yahoo. It gives many listings that can steer you in the right direction ~ Hope this helps!

a chimney sweep is the best way
if you are talking about the brick work, then this way Rub a piece of matching brick, dampened with clear water, on brick fireplace to remove mark“s Never add detergents or soap
if you want to clean the bricks use a low fume oven cleaner and stiff brush. rinse well. Works great!
