What does the twin tub on detergent boxes mean?
Question:
Answers:
Before automatic washing machines were invented for the home, the best type of washing machine was a twin tube, you put the clothes in one side to wash them, then you took them out of that side and put them into the other tub to rinse and spin them.
On detergent boxes it probably means it is suitable to be used in one of these machines, automatic detergent can be used in twin tubs, but some detergents are not suitable for automatics they produce too many suds.

its them old fashion thingys that used to wash clothes
A twin tub is a washer and a spin dryer joined together in one unit
Twin tubs were the precursor to modern washing machines - my mum took ages to be persuaded that an automatic washing machine was the way to go. The had twin compartments, one was the drum in which the washing went, the other was a spin dryer. You washed the clothes in the drum by standing over it using long wooden tongs to put the clothes in and out, and once they were washed, you spun them in the dryer to remove the soapy water, then returned them to the washer to rinse in fresh water, then you spun them again. The water filled in through hoses that you ran from the sink. It was a laborious process that meant ages standing in a steamy room constantly washing and rinsing. I'd forgotten all about twin tubs til now!
Some people still use them. it's a machine with a washer one side and a spin drier the other.
Sorry fairly blessed, meant to give you the thumbs up, cause it is a great answer. Stupid me, pressed the wrong side. Hope you get best answer for this from quest?.
we used to have one when we were kids before mum got an automatic washing machine. Its a machine which has 2 sections - one is a big tub with a swirly bit in the middle. you fill it with hot water and add some of that "twin tub" washing powder, then push all your clothes in and turn in on and the bit in the middle sloshes the water about to wash the clothes. you then wring out the clothes and put them in the other section which is your spin dryer.
Before these I think people had single tubs- presumably without the spin dryer section!!, and before this they used things called a washboard and mangle!
Either suitable or not suitable for twin tubs
