I want to know more about air purifiers. Which ones are the best? Do they really work?

I've tried a few because I have allergies and I've found the ones with the double filter (one is hepa) work best but they are expensive to maintain. A tad noisy too.
I didn't like the ionizing ones at all. And if you smoke, or have anyone that visits who smokes, they are useless for that.
If you can afford one, get the double filter one and use it where you sleep to save on the replacement filters.
the most efficient set ups are the whole house types that are part of your hvac system. they are fitted into your existing duct work, and clean all the air. not just one room at a time.
Look into a product called Air Source by Shaklee. It is the best on the market and the price reflects that, about $600.00 but you can find them on ebay for less. Yes it really works and is well worth the money. People will walk into your house and ask what that smell is. It smells like the fresh ocean air. It also gets rid of cooking, and pet oders in a short period of time.
