What is the best way to wash a filthy baseball cap?
Question:very sweaty and dirty from tons of hiking. Like the hat, would like to save it.

I just wet the cap, get laundry detergent on a scrub brush like they have for knuckles and start scrubbing. You can get all over in inside it with those little brushes.
Then you have to rinse the cap off good with water. You could run tap water on it or put it in a bucket or sink of water and swish it around, may take several times to get all the soap out.
Hang it up to let it dry, like outside so it can drip and not make a mess. You can just take the adjuster apart and hook it around like a clothesline or nail in the wall or something like that, maybe a tree branch.
If the bill is a cardboard type it will disintegrate though.
Take it to the dry cleaners, my husband tried many ways to wash it and it lost it's shape.
wash it in tide and oxy clean and add 1/2 c. baking soda
it should come out nice and clean
you can buy a cap frame to help it keep its shape when it is being washed (washing machine).
i personally have always just put them on the top shelf of the dishwasher.

I just throw them in the washing machine, after it is done let the cap air dry.
My husband gets his caps dirty also and I have a plastic case that the hat goes inside of then you can put some spot cleaner on it and throw it in the wash machine. They sell the cap cases at walmart in the laundry odds and ends (like where the iorning boards are) they are inexpensive. Check it out. GL!
