How do you get collars back to white?

Question:after they have "yellowed" from hanging in the wardrobe (without using bleach)

Answers:
It could work for you;

I found that the "ring around the collar" could be removed using liquid dish soap - the cheaper, the better.
I put it directly onto the ring a few minutes before tossing it into the washer. This may work on the yellowed collars as well. Spread it, straight, over the yellowed collar a few minutes before washing. Can't hurt to try.

Try using baking soda and vinegar.
buy a new one
Dry cleaning firms have this answer.
without using bleach? Is this a trick question?
give it a good scrubing
Use bleach wash your clothes in bleach to get stains out
Lemon juice.
Soak them in a diaper/nappy wash for a few hours.
Only wash your white clothing with other white items.
Or, buy a new shirt.
Use Mean Green! Its about 3 to 4 dollars at walmart maybe a little cheaper at a dollar store. It works wonder. Spray it on your collar and let it soak in then wash your shirt regularly but make sure you add some mean green to the machine. Its found with household cleaning items but it is very gentle and works well with clothing. Hope this helps! And it is also great in the house. So you will have and added bonus.
Oxyclean is great for that. make a paste and rub it into the collars before washing with a stiff brush. then wash as usual.

(my favorite is still a bleach pen though)
Try Spray and Wash or Shout. Be sure to scrub it a little before you put it in the washing machine. s
Hydrogen Peroxide. Soak it for 30 minutes and then put it in wash. Hot cycle.
try Shout gel...it has a scrubbing brush attached...i think peroxide works too
I find shampoo works pretty good. It's usually from residual oils from your hair or neck that don't wash out all the way, and dust (etc.) sticks to it and discolors. Just wet the collar and use a toothbrush and a little shampoo and throw it in the wash. I have the same problem with the shoulders too.
I also find that if I hang whites inside out, I don't have so much a problem with it.
