before you attempt to melt away the wax be warned colored wax can permanently dye your carpet.for white or clear wax scrape away as much wax as possible with a utility knife. use a hot iron and set it to steam. find a old white towel and wet it thoroughly (dripping is good) apply the towel and iron to the wax for 1 minute check and wipe some away repeat until gone. for colored wax scrape away as much as possible and leave it alone until you have your carpet professionally cleaned. make sure your carpet cleaners specialize in stain work and repairs.
Get some really hot water. Blot it on to melt the wax and peel it off. Keep doing this until it is gone. Do not try and iron or anything like that since it can melt the carpet. Just hot and blot and peel.
Put a brown grocery sack on the wax. Use an iron on a moderate setting. The bag should soak up the wax!
as wierd as this is going to sound try ironing it out that way u dont damage the carpet and after its hot use a very hot rag and try and get it out a lil at a time

put some ice cubes in a plastic bag and lay on the carpet to freeze the wax. Then chip or scrape as much away as you can. Next, put a paper towel over the wax and carefully run a hot iron over it.. The wax should melt and stick to the towel. Lift the towel off. DO NOT RUB THE AREA! Repeat process with clean towels untill the wax is gone. Do not leave the iron on the area too long as you do not want to melt carpet. fibers. You may want to contact a professional carpet cleaner however, if the wax is darker than the carpet, or if you are not sure of the carpet fibers. It could leave a stain if the above process is used. I did it with white wax on a light brown carpet and it worked fine for me.
there are products on the market to rid wax on carpet, but the best way is a ice cube, place cube on wax, let it harden to a freezing state, pull off wax with fingers or a rag

Move the paper as it absorbs so that you don't redeposit the wax on the carpet. Have patience and continue as long as any wax shows up on bag. Next, apply a good carpet stain remover.
