Whats wrong with my dryer?
Question:My dryer has all of a sudden stopped blowing out hot air. It only blows out cool or room temperature air Assuming it's not lint buildup, what else could it be, how easy would it be to fix myself, and how much will it cost to have a handyman fix it?

you probably just need to replace the heating element...which is usually only $10 - $20 from an appliance repair store..it's very easy and you could probably do it yourself with just a few tools and a how to guide.I love this guy's website...hope it helps you, if you decide to do it yourself

Try checking exhaust tube may need cleaning
mine did that it's probably the thermostat
Sometimes an invisible film of fabric softener can build up over your lint filter. To test it, run some water on it. If the water doesn't go through, than you have a fabric softener build up.
Your heater element is bad or you have a blown thermal safety switch. Call the manufacturer they may cover it under warranty if you ask nice or they would be able to tell you the problem and how to repair it.
It sounds like the heating element went out. They are fairly easy to replace if your handy. If not I would guess a handyman would charge about 2hours labor plus the cost of the part.
That happen to me...typically its lint build up somewhere along the exhaust but if that is clear then there is some gizmo that needs replacing. My repair guy charged $70 for a home visit.
Ironically, in my case, a few days before the hot water heater blew. I wasnt home so my wife turned off everything in the basement including the valve to the gas line that went to dryer so it was $70 to turn it back on.
it could be the heating element or the thermostat. Call some one to fix it. If it's more than a hundred and fifty dollars you should look into buying a new one. the new ones are more efficient
