How can I get the mildew smell out of my towels after wash. I have tried everything?

Add 1 Cup of vinegar during your rinse cycle. It should get the smell out and leave your clothes brighter.

Try setting them directly in the sun for at least a few hours on a hot day. The sun has a natural bleaching process that will release odors. It works great for stinky gym shoes, too!
throw a little toothpaste in there and then dry immediatly, don't let it sit and then remove immediatly from dryer.
Add vinegar to the wash water. Or, if the towels are white, you can use bleach.
bounce or downy. use it all the time. tear off a sheet and throw it in the dryer. all my towels smell like spring.
if you are washing, but not machine drying, use a little bleach in the wash. bleach is an anti bacterial and will also kill fungus. It can also be put in a spray bottle, with 5% solution and the rest water, sprayed on mildew on tiles and baseboards. this will kill it all.
Either lemon or vinegar in the rinse water. Rinse thoroughly - no soap/detergent left in the fabric and then allow to dry out in the sun and wind for as long as it takes. Repeat this process if necessary. After each use of the towels, always put your towels out to dry/air. Leaving them damp for any length of time, tends to give them a 'musty' smell. If this doesn't help you could try a full rinse cycle [after you have washed your towels] and put a good handful of carb soda in the water. This will soften and hopefully 'freshen' your towels. Good luck!
Apply Roquefurt. you won't notice the mold smell as much as the funk smell.
It may be a good idea to have your water checked or your pipes checked for mineral deposits.
it sounds like if you are washing them and them drying them right away you might have a water problem i have the same problem if you leave the clothes in the washer for a few hours it starts to stink right
what we do is put the cleaning soultion in and then some faberic softner and take them out to dry right after your wash cycle is done if that does not work then you need to clean your washer run a hot load with a liberal amout of bleach and let it go and do what it does if that still does not work then you need to get a filter for your water
I usually add a small amount of bleach (1/4 cup or less) to the wash, and make sure they are throughly dried after. This does cause dark colors to fade after time, but they won't have that locker room smell.
Remove from the washer as soon as possible after wash. Put it under direct sun for a few hours. This works for all clothing not only towels
