When i iron my clothes you get a fusty smell, i use tablets in the wash?
Question:what could be causing this?
Answers:
Make sure clothes are dried as quickly as possible as damp clothes left for a while can sometimes have this smell when ironning them. Try using comfort vaperess ironning water it smells really nice.
All clothes smell funny when the fabric is being heated up by an iron. Don't worry it's not you, it's just the smell of something being burned a bit. Spray them with starch for a more appealing, but still slightly burnt, smell.
If you have a steam iron the problem could be the water. Drain the water and flush well. Also check your washer and dryer to see of they contribute to the smell.
They sometimes smell like this if they've been left damp for a short while before drying, always try and dry them straight away. Drying indoors especially on radiators makes them a bit fusty too. Try different washing tablets some have a stronger fragrance than others and last longer, sometimes the 2 in 1 tablets are quite strong it's just a matter of trying different brands and smells. I usually use a bit of fabric conditioner in the wash with whatever tablets I buy as it doesn't matter then how you dry them it'll just gives them that extra fragrance and it lasts longer. You have the added bonus if you dry them inside they make the room smell nice too. You can also use a spray fragrance when you're ironing like Febreze of course but if you can't be bothered with all that just pop in a bit of conditioner in the wash, even the cheaper ones smell nice and last quite long. If you want a good washing liquid rather than tablets Persil Small and Mighty is great it has a lovely long lasting smell and it's concentrated so you only need to use a very small amount and don't need extra conditioner. Hope this helps a little! All the best!
I don´t think it has anything to do with the tablet´s. It´s most likely the iron. Descale the iron before using it again, sure you will notice a big difference . Or it might be the ironing board , when the ironing board has been left wet or is to old , it gives of this fusty smell.
I agree with dimpelmum, it could be your ironing board, renew the cover and the under felt they get damp from the steam and cause a musty smell
