Do you dry your clothes in the sun?
Question:For those that hang your clothes to dry out in the sun, do you turn them inside out? Or inside in? Which is better and why?
Answers:
you can turn them inside out, it might keep them from bleaching from the sun as fast.
to the comment above me: clothes lines save tons on you energy bill.
why do ppl do that anyway? use a dryer
I never gave it any thought when I did use a clothes line. I just took care to hang them so they would need the least ironing, because line drying does not fluff out wrinkles like a dryer does. But I suppose inside out would be best to inhibit fading. Hope that helped!
I had better use a dryer. But if i had to dry it in the sun .. i would turn it inside out so that the sun wont harm the colours of the fabric. And do not leave it outside to dry for too long. once u think it is dry bring it in before the sun destroys the colour of the fabric.
i used to help hanging clothes outside, we didn't turn them inside out.
the difference is when you hang clothes in the clothes line when they dry you hardly have to iron them. oh, and they dont shrink.
have you tried washing clothes manually? they seem to be cleaner when washed this way.
Definitely inside out!
Sometimes, but I find that they dry really stiff compared to in the dryer with a Bounce sheet.
my mother in law who never had a dryer until last year always told me to hang them inside out to prevent fading unless they were white then right side out to brighten. and don't use fabric softener in your towels every time you wash them or they won't absorb.
Always beware of dark colors being bleached by the sun. This may be why some people hang items inside out.
I don't hang my clothes to dry in the sun, but I do hang some of my things to dry. It prevents shrinkage and fading. The sun will fade colours so it's better to turn them inside out if you must hang them out in the sun. They can dry in the shade overnight just as well.
Dark colored and bright colored clothes, I turn inside out so they don't fade. Panties get turned inside out. All others are right side out.
I always hang my clothes outside in the summer. The sun bleaches the whites usually without the use of bleach, and they smell fresh! I do put shirts and towels in the dryer for a few minutes before hanging them outside though. I gets rid of the wrinkles on shirts and fluffs up the towels.
The wife turns the jeans insideout, helps the crotch dry better in the sun, and when she washes the clothes, she still uses the old scrub board in the river, we live out in the country and the river is right behind the cabin, we have generators for power, but she prefers to wash the clothes by hand, says that they will last longer, and when she hangs the clothes up,she hangs them over a branch and lets the sun do the drying.
If i have to hang them outside I usually turn them inside out, in Texas the sun is very strong for about 9 months of the year, so you can lose alot of color over the course of the year. I also had my husband install an indoor clothes line for me to put my undies and bras on. I use it for some of the other, more delicate things that I don't want to fade. Using my clothesline has been a great money saver and aside from the occasional lint ball has been quite good for wrinkle reducing.
