OMG maggots in my sink!?
Question:So I left two dishes in my sink last week. I thought I'd be back soon to clean them, but I forgot about them. Now I've come back, and there are maggots growing in the dishes. Like little worms wriggling around!
What could have laid these eggs? Are there more someplace? And how do I get rid of them safely (and ungrossly)?
Answers:
Why, nature's cleaning crew, of course - the housefly, or one of its many relatives. You must've left some tasty stuff in your dirty dishes! Yum! You avoid these yucky situations by not leaving old food or garbage exposed to feed your friends, because if you do they'll come for dinner. Get rid of them with scalding water, clean your dishes, and that's that. If you're totally grossed to ever see those dishes again, then pop them in garbage bags, tie tightly closed, and put them out for trash service.
flies more than likely... take the dishes out and wash them off and put them in the washer, then the excess maggots left in the sink can be solved by pouring bleach on them then wash the sink out real well.
Eww. They stink don't they? They're probably fly larvae. I'd just throw them in the food dispenser and crush them to peices. Just kill them as you see them. Good luck!
dump the water and wash the dish. If the worms are in the water it is probably mosquito larva.
Wash them down the drain you silly thing! hot hot water and soap. Then spray the house with fly spray.
Remove dishes from sink and disinfect with White Vinegar, then wash your dishes in your newly disinfected sink with dishwashing liquid and one cup of White Vinegar added to your sink and soak and rinse with very hot water, and if you have a dishwasher you can also clean and sanitze your dishes. Good Luck !
