How do you keep a small apt from getting messy?

well you could start by cleaning it. set a timer for like 15 minutes. and everyday for those 15 minutes just go around the house and do a quick clean up. that way u dont have complete melt downs where everything is a mess and you spent a whole weekend cleaning

i don't know men are as bad as small children and i live in a very small 3 bedroom trailer. with 3 children ages 8 7 and 4. there is no way to keep clean everyday all day. just PICK UP AS YOU GO
Put everything back where you got it when you are done with it, such as dishes, clothes, and stuff just around the house. That way, there is less clutter and less to put away!

Make sure you have a place for everything and everything in its place
Teach the man that it is his responsibility to pick up after himself, you will do the cooking, laundry, cleaning, etc. but he is responsible for HIS stuff.
I had the same problem. So I did everything in the household except pick up after him. One day he asked me when I was gonna clean the pig sty. I took him from room to room and pointed out that every single item in the whole house that was out of place...on the floor, thrown in a corner, draped across furniture, etc...every single item was HIS. He is now trained!!
