Whoosh and the rust is gone

I use Tidy Bowl toilet cleaner on rust. Takes it right off!
There is a cleaner called "the works" it does calcium, lime and rust and works pretty well. I dilute it in a spray bottle at roughly 1/4 solution to 3/4 water and use it in the shower to get the iron out with little to no scrubbing. You can probably modify the mixture to fit your need since I am not sure what you are trying to clean but I would start at that.

Another note is to have a well ventilated area.. that stuff has a strong smell even diluted.

Its worth a shot and it is pretty inexpensive.
