Answers:
Don't ever mix amonia and bleach. Use vinegar instead. The toxic gases are lethal.
Poison gas.If you mix it strong enuff it will even smoke my wife poored it on the dog room floor once and it was allmost a week before I could stay inside longer than 2 hours ruff stuff if mixed.
What he'll make is ammonia gas. After he passes out from the fumes, tell him "I told you so".
Prepare for it to literally knock you over.
NEVER EVER EVER MIX BLEACH AND AMMONIA!
Of course, if he insists, I would get far, far, far away from him and have the ambulance on call ready to assist.
The ammonia and the chlorine in the bleach combine to make a poison gas. NH3 + Cl => HCl + N2 (Hydrogen chloride) and free nitrogen.
Mixing bleach and ammonia, produces a gas called
chloramine. If inhaled, chloramine releases ammonia, hydrochloric acid and
oxygen-free radicals, which are harmful molecules, into the lungs. This
inflames the lung tissue and fluids obstruct air passages, blocking oxygen.
death
Actually, the two
compounds do combine to make a very toxic gas, known as chloramine. So it
really is a bad idea to mix ammonia and bleach, or even to store them near
each other.
That's a lethal experiment in the works.
Tell him you're going to call the Ambulance so they can stand by and wait for him to "clean the windows".
Maybe that'll scare him enough not to do it LOL
Death, that's what happens!!
Mixing bleach and ammonia will release an odorless and colorless chlorine gas in molecular form. Get that stuff out of your house, NOW!
I almost died mixing them together, when I went to the ER room
the doctor said that there are quite a few deaths each year from people combining the mixture.
Ammonia is hard enough on the lungs so tell you husband to go easy on the ammonia, in fact the windex already has the ammonia added.
Wow you need to divorce this man before he puts you in any real danger! Run woman! Run!
You don't need bleach to clean windows, and any spray that falls on your curtains or carpet will take out the color.
The earlier answerers were absolutely correct: never, ever mix ammonia and bleach - the poisonous gas will send you to the ER, and the bleach will ruin/discolor everything it touches. (The link is below, if hubby needs to see it in writing from an "official" source.)
Below is a link to the famous "Heloise Hint" recipe for window cleaner. It's water, rubbing alcohol, and vinegar. (Scroll down or search for the recipe on that page.)
I thought your house was out of bleach (hint, hint)?
Good luck!
Take the kids, the pets and the plants out of the house and let him wash the windows the way he wants to.
When he is dead, just say " I told you so ".
Good luck with those windows.
You get a very toxic gas that is deadly if inhaled. If it doesn't kill you it will certainly hurt your lungs seriously!
