What can I use to get heavy mineral residue off of windows?

I had some luck using a CLR type product. I first washed the windows then soaped them and used a razor blade to remove what I could. I went back a third time and used the CLR solution and a sponge. First apply and let soak then reapply and scrub. Finally just wash and use a squegee.
