How do you get the sticky residue from tape off a door?
Question:I have steel doors, and have taped stuff to it, but am not able to get the sticky stuff off, it collects dirt, and looks dirty. I have tried Mr. Clean magic sponge, Goo Gone, Goof Off, and many multi purpose cleaners, so far nothing. I did learn to use magnets to hang things up:)
Answers:
Sometimes saturating it with oil will do the trick. Then use a razor blade and scrape it off.
windex and a hot towel
Use a razor blade and scrape it off
achohol* swabs or wipes should do it
A little bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball should take it right off!
RAZOR BLADE AND ALCHOL
a wonder product called goo gone. it'll take off adhaseive as well as many other things. It's very useful and has a pleasant citrus smell.
White Spirit
I used some stuff from 3M...don't remember the name, but it came right off. Go to home depot and ask them about it.
Use nail polish remover (acetone).
Try using a hair dryer to heat up the old tape. You can also try cutting a lemon in half and using the juice to loosen up the sticky residue
Try rubbing alcohol thats what the hospitals use on there sticky tapes.
use oil and then scrape the sticky residue off. or maybe just rub off the residue using a cloth or something, after applying oil on it of course. :)
Nail polish remover!
Buy some sticker remover and then use a razor blade to scrape it off.
Hope it works, please let me know how it went.
try a heat gun. some times a hairdryer will work but yours sounds a little stubborn. a heat gun at home depot runs about 20 to 30 dollars. purpose is to turn the glue back to glue and wipe off. then wax.
Try some rubbing alcohol.=)
razor blade and alcohjol might work but ive ALWAYS used WD-40..try it it will get everything off from paint on a window to dried bubble gum, price tags and yes stickers or tape
Try rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover.

I have had good success with softscrub and a product called spray9 also. (not at the same time though) Be careful with these products as that can harm painted surfaces. Try it on an inconspicuous are before you try it on an area in plain sight.
Vegetable oil does the trick...i had my car broken into and had to tape the lovely garbage bag to the door and had the gross tape stuff on there...i used veggie oil and it worked well...also you can try finger polish remover IF the steel isnt painted or has a gloss coat on it...the remover will strip everything from that!
Use a razor blade and windex.
I was going to say goo gone but I also use WD40.
This is going to sound really weird but I swear it works... Take your hairdryer apply heat to the glue and scrape. Works like a charm.
acetone and it may take the paint off
WD-40
Rubbing alcohol
I have to say that for removing sticky substances from surfaces, I have always had very good luck with vinegar. It works well on windows as well.
Eucalyptus oil will remove every trace. Available wherever oils are sold (health food stores, baths shops, etc).
