How to get paint off of leather?
Question:this afternoon i accidentally se a nice white leather hand bag in a spot of blue acrylic paint. now the leather has a light blue stain on it. i tried plain soap & water and that did not work. what can i use that will safely remove the blue tint on my leather bag?
Answers:
Try a good leather cleaner, be careful not to get the leather wet with water, that's just asking for trouble. Most of the time these cleaners are found in the automotive section at a store for leather seats in cars.
If that doesn't work, try using vinegar and a LITTLE bit of baking soda. Rub it over the stain and let it soak for a couple of minutes, then scape it off gently with your nail. After this I'd use the leather cleaner again, to get rid of the vinegar.
Good luck!
I suggest you try to find a specialist to do the job. It is safer.
I'd try a Mister Clean magic eraser. There are no solvents in it - if that doesn't work, try Oxyclean. If that doesn't work, perhaps a small amount of nail polish remover on a cotton ball, followed by a good cleaning to make sure it's all gone - and some mink oil or leather conditioner.
Dab a little cuticle remover . Dab it on the spot and rub gently with a soft cloth, wipe and buff. You may need the cuticle remover to sit for 10 minutes or so before rubbing for difficult stains. Reapply if necessary.
