Help!! How do you remove a sock from the vacuum hose?

Question:my 5 year old is trying to be a helper and got a sock stuck at the top portion of the hose. I tried shoving a stick down the hose and it won't budge. Any ideas?

Answers:
Take a heavy metal coat hanger make it straight. Bend 90 degree on one (about 1/2 inch or so )end then bend again
Try bending different ways but if you run it up hose just(the way sock went in if possible) try to snag sock (you will trash it) And pull keep doing this it should loosen up sock so you can pull out.

good luck

Find a wire coathanger, straighten it out, and use the end without the hook to thread through the hose, and retrieve the sock. It works pretty well :-)
take hose all the way off and use a broom handle; should work.
if your vacuum has an exhaust port, attach it there and blow out the sock. A shop vac will also work. Wetting the sock will help seal it in and it Will pop out under pressure. For that matter, a garden hose on full blast might also do the trick.
try to straighten a wired hanger leaving the hook and pull the sock out. worked for me.
broom stick or remove it from the vac take it to the sink or tub and run hot water till it fill up and rock it back and forth and it will straighten up the sock and it will come out.
