Does soaking sheets in bleach turn them white?
Question:i have yellow and blue pinstripe sheets would they turn white if i soaked them in bleach
Answers:
PLEASE PLEASE FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTION:
I had a $50.00 cotton tablecloth with blue embroidered flowers, all over the tablecloth. HALF OF IT WAS YELLOW FROM SITTING SO LONG ABOUT 2 YEARS as it was for a large rectangle formal dining room set, and I had purchased a new set with an Oval shape dining room table.
I therefore wanted to give it to my married son, who has a rectangle dining room table. I was very upset when I saw half of the tablecloth was yellow, and half white. I had not kept it in a plastic bag. Like a sweater bag. So it was ruined.
I just did this a month ago.
First take some tide, and some clorox 2, make it into a paste, and rub it into the stain, by applying the paste, and using some water if it is to thick. You can rub it with your two hands, by making a fist, or you can use a brush with strong bristles.
Then do the following.
1. "USE HOT WATER ONLY" IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE
2. PUT 1 AND A HALF CUPS OF TIDE
3. PUT 1 CUP OF CLOROX "2" BLEACH (it is for colored clothes only)
4. LET IT GO THROUGH THE FIRST WASH CYCLE, AND BEFORE THE WATER WITH THE SOAP, AND CLOROX 2 BLEACH GOES OUT STOP THE WASHING MACHINE. LET IT SOAK OVER NIGHT AT LEAST 12 HOURS.
5. IN THE MORNING, START THE WASH CYCLE AGAIN, AND LET IT WASH LIKE A REGULAR LOAD.
When it finishes, IT WILL BE SPARKLING WHITE, AND THE COLORED STRIPES WOULD NOT HAVE FADED. They will be bright too.
Yes.
Get one of those bleach pens if its an area thats all white. If you add bleach to your wash, it won't turn them "white". Just make sure you don't hit them directly with the bleach, let your machine fill up first.
Yes they'll turn white but I advice you find another way of making white sheets because if you do soak them in bleach, the whole sheet will have this very uncomfortbale and rough texture.
No, but it will ROT the fabric! If there is aDFollar Tree near you, buy there version of oxy clean. Soak it in hot water overnight to remove the stain.
they will fade A LOT get some bleach for colors
I don't think you should soak them completely in bleach. Try diluting it- one part bleach, two parts water. That's what I did for some of my clothes that were white/light. Just don't put the bleach directly on the sheets, that's not good-it will make your sheets well less soft n almost brittle. What I'd do if I were you is put some kind of stain removal on the spot you want gone(maybe spray n wash), then set your washer on the big load-but only put in the sheets so it has more movement. Don't just put in bleach, use detergent too. It's less harsh and won't make your sheets smell either. Don't use bleach too much though, because after a while the color will start to fade, plus they'll have a yellowish tint to them, not too nice. :)
It wont make them completely white...no but it will fade them. Just don't use just bleach it has to be diluted otherwise it will eat away and make the fabric brittle and can rip easily. I would just say to buy white sheets. You also have to be careful because if you use too much bleach in the water it will give them a yellow tint.
You didnt tell us what color the stain is?
Are the pin stripes yellow and blue on a white background?
Careful or you could end up with green marks depending on what dyes were used.
Are these sheets linen or cotton or synthetic?
Look for a stain remover that says its safe for colors!
If the stains are on the white part of the sheets you could try applying undiluted bleach with a cotton bud or ball or wait the americans call them qtips? directly to the stain and then
rinsing out the bleach under a cold tap and then washing the whole sheet in cold water?
It would help if you told us what color the stain is and what caused it?
Here's what you do:
1) take a gel dishwashing detergent (like cascade) and put it directly on the stain. Let sit until the stain fades. You may have to use an old tooth brush to agitate it.
Then wash in warm, NOT hot water with bleach for the whole load.
Good as new.
If you don't have that cascade gel, buy a container of it. It's great for sinks, toilets, tiles, laundry or anytime you need bleach in a non-runny gel form.
only pure bleach will take the dye out of fabrics and turn them back to there original color, soaking fabrics in a solution of bleach will dull the colour if its coloured and make it whiter if its white.
if you want your sheets to be all white then you would have to pour pure bleach all over them or soak them in an incredibly incredibly strong solution of bleach, that's presuming the original colour of the fabric is white before the manufacturer dyed them!
Oh most definitely. Do not use bleach on colors, I repeat do not use bleach on colors lol. You will be much safer using Oxy clean. It removes tough stains, and the best part about it is that you can use Oxy clean directly on your sheets and won't have to worry about discoloration. You can use the powder or stain removing spray. Good luck ;-)
