Why do soap dispensers sometimes drip soap all on their own? How can I prevent it?
Question:I've noticed that a lot of my store bought liquid soap dispensers (the pump kind) drip out soap automatically, usually after it's reached the half-full (or half-empty) point. I end up with a lot of drying soap on the bottle & the counter. It's a messy waste! Why does it happen & how can I stop it?
Answers:
Unfortunately a lot of these pump type dispensers are quite cheaply made and there isn't really a solution to the dripping problem. I have found that sometimes mine do it and sometimes they don't. What I would suggest is when you pump out some soap, be sure that you push the pump all the way down and then when it rises up to the original position, be sure to catch any drips. Most of the time, if you push it all the way down and make sure it's risen to the full original position, it won't leak. Try this, it usually works for me. Hope this helps!
Most of them have a spring and it get gummed up clean it with hot running water if that doesn't work it will need to be replaced.
I have a soap dispenser and I won't buy anymore as they mess up my sink area with dripped soap. I'de rather the bar of soap in the soap dish. bettyk
unscrew the bottle in case air pressure is doing something to the bottle
