How do you get ballpoint pen ink out of fabric?
Question:I thought I'd heard something about hairspray (??) but I was wondering if anyone had tips on washing pen ink out of fabric. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Answers:
Hairspray smudges it. get some Dryel... It's a home dry cleaning kit!
Hairspray sometimes does work but then again, it just may ruin the fabric.
The best way to remove ink from anything (without ruining the fabric or surface of anything) is to use plain old rubbing alcohol. Yep. If there is a lot of ink in the fabric, soak it in rubbing alcohol for about 30 minutes. Then rub the ink right out. Rubbing alcohol will even remove sharpie permanent ink.
I've actually done this before.lysol spray, and rub gently. Then wash , all should come out, lysol & ink.
Try using Shout it works great and if it is white than use bleach. hope this helps.
According to ehow.com -
1. Dab the stain with a clean wet sponge until no ink is lifted from stain.
2. Allow the stain to air dry.
3. Spray the stain with hair spray.
4. Sandwich the stained fabric between two paper towels.
5. Blot the backside of the stained fabric, working the stain into the other paper towel until stain is lifted.
6. Apply laundry pre-treatment (stain remover).
7. Wash in warm water and allow to air dry.
if you still have a stain trying soaking it in oxiclean - that works wonders for me.
hope that helps!
This is the old stand by that truly works.
Aqua Net Hair Spray in the BLUE can.
Spray, rub, it should be clean.
Repeat if necessary.
Launder as usual.
I have used this and yes it works great..
use milk and a bit of vinegar, mix...(it will curdle, which is normal) then pour on ink spot.
leave over night and wash as usual .. presto.. no more ink
