My washing machine has broken down, any brands that are highly recommended/reliable?
Question:Would be looking at a front loader to save on water and wear and tear on clothes
Answers:
When I went back to teaching I got a very good - but expensive - Maytag front loader.
I must say I do not regret the expense after a whole two years. Yes, it saves water, electricity and wear and tear on garments. And it is easy to use.
However I suggest you look at the website for Choice Magazine, where they give a whole lot of comparisons. It also depends on where in the world you live, of course, and what's available in your area.
Think of your budget and the size of your general load, whether anyone in the family works with grease or oil, whether you have nappies (diapers) or school children... and so on.
My Maytag spins clothes out so well I always hang them out to dry and do not need a dryer as well, which saves on the cost of purchase plus power, and space in the laundry. It adjusts the amount of water according to the wash, and has a very small footprint. It washes so well I never have to use hot water, which is another saving, and it needs very little detergent. I tell you - it's a wonderful little machine!
Good luck.
kenmore is super reliable
Siemens - Best I have seen. large front loading doors, 100% drier, almost 80 different programs, steam wash, but have to spend.
LG front load washer and dryer. It cleans sothe clothes so well they look brand new when they come out. I think it's the best.
There's a magazine (maybe a website too) that I think is called Consumer Report. They compare different brands of things on the market.
Top front loaders are:
LG Tromm Steamwasher
Kenmore Elite HE
Whirlpool Duet HT
