Shampooer won't suck water back out of carpet?

Question:I have a Kirby G4 vacuum/shampooer in 1. I finally got it hooked up & it is putting out water but not sucking it back out of the carpet. I don't have a users manual. Any one have any suggestions?? Maybe I have something hooked up wrong? Or a button you have to push..I also thought that on the fill tank, if i turned the knob to off position that it would suck the water back out. But that didn't work either.. Any advice greatly appreciated..

Answers:
This happened to me with a differeny brand and all that was wrong was the very small filter that is usually going into the water tank was clogged.

get a new vacuum that works
Go to the Kirby web site and get the Customer Service Number. They will hook you up and be happy to do it. Im sure there is a second turn on for extraction due to the fact it is also a vacuum. These things are so frustrating.
Check that all the parts are in properly and correctly seated. With mine if the water tank isn't in properly it won't extract the water.
Get on the internet and look up the brand of cleaner that you have and ask the manufacturer. Good luck
Since you probably paid an arm and a leg for that stupid thing, I would definitely call the company directly. They have a lifetime warranty, so you need to take advantage of that before you sink more money into it.
