How do you keep a wool blanket soft after you wash it?
Question:I know that you wash wool blankets by hand with lukewarm water and 'Woolite' and then gently squeeze the water out with towels (then lay it flat to dry) but the wool fibers still seem to get hard. Does fabric softner help? I heard that for Buffolo Sweaters you use some kind of oil? Is it the same for wool blankets?
Answers:
A good wool will soften again after you use it awhile. I wash my wool blankets the same as you, but I hang them outside. The wind seems to help soften them. Fabric softner will help, but only use a very lttle amount, the wool soaks it right up. It is difficult to rinse out.
