I need some organization tips.my house is a mess?
Question:Ok we moved into this house 7 months ago. I still have things in boxes that I don't have a home for just yet. I never have time to do anything. So tired of living in clutter. Any tips? I know I am going to be throwing alot of stuff away. I am even embarassed to have people in my house.

Well, don't be so hard on yourself--you aren't alone. Yesterday, Oprah had an organizer on. The organizer said the clutter was making the mom tired. Have you heard the old saying, "A place for everything, and everything in it's place." So, start small and pick at one room at a time. Decide on what you just can't give up (keepers), things the needy can use and trash. If you haven't used something in the last 6 months, donate it. Have everyone pitch in by putting their dirty clothes in a clothes basket (each person has their own) (you or two of you can share a white or undies basket), hang up or fold and put away the clothes you want to keep and that you use. Do that every night before bed. Get a whole bunch of storage baskets or plastic bins and start sorting things out, whatever that may be. Send the newspapers, magazines, catalogs to recycling. Invest in some cheap bookcases and put books and bins in those. Get some Closet-Maid or Rubber-Maid closet material to maximize closet space--shoe hangers, you name it. Put the dishes in the dishwasher as they are dirtied. Clean off the table and counters in the kitchen and bathrooms every day. Set a laundry schedule so towels, etc., don't pile up. Get Swiffer products and a vacuum with attachments and use it. Make a place near the door where coats, hats, shoes, etc., can be stowed--you can buy these neat organizers that have a storage bench you can sit on and hooks for coats. Watch "Clean Sweap" on The Learning Channel (TLC).
Have you considered that if you haven't used it in 7 months that you don't need it and could just drop it off at Good Will or Salvation Army?
If that doesn't work for you then try doing 1 box every 3 days you'll have them unpacked in no time.
If you are out of room...time to go thru what you have and decide Have to Keep, can give away and it's just garbage and then do just that, keep, give way and throw away. You'll have to be a little cut-throat about it and maybe even have a friend around to help nudge you along asking "is that really a keeper?"
Good Luck
Maybe you can have a rummage sell to get rid of stuff you can't use or just don't want anymore. If you get rid of most of it. Then take the rest to Goodwill that you don't want. Your next day off look through the boxes and get a marker and write on them and put the different boxes in rooms that u possibly can use stuff. Maybe take out the stuff in the rooms already that you don't like and put out the new stuff. Out with the old and in with new. I wish you much luck.
Start by having a HUGE garage sale. Have your friends tell you what yo get rid of (this will help you get rid of useless items that you for one reason or another do not want to part with). Take that money, and use it to help organize your place (i.e., storage, entertainment center).
Also, do you have TOO much of certain things? Like a dining set for 20 when you have a family of 4? Reduce this clutter by being practical in what you need.
Lastly, have fun with it. Open a bottle of wine, and go through the boxes and reminisce. Then put it in the designated area for the garage sale. I know it may seem overwhelming, but once you are done, you will be HAPPY!! ALso, watch the TLC channel. (I think that's the channel) with the show "clean house". It has great tips. Good Luck and let me know when the sale is! :)
OK first get all your big furniture in the places you want it like couch tables side tables chest lamps then open one box at a time like for example linens sort them in to certain piles like sheets towels hand towels etc then go through each stack say which ones you Are going to keep and which ones you are going to give away to good will(tax deduction) then put everything thing in to its prober place the closet up stairs and so on and so fourth don't start on another box in till ones finished well hope this helps and be fore you put that certain stuff away make sure that's place is all clean and smells good hope your House becomes a Home real soon well lata

A large yard sale might be the answer. you can get rid of a lot of thing you don't have any use for and make a little bit of money, also you will have less clutter. but to throw things away is a waste cause there are people out there who might have some use of the things you no longer need.
