Would it be safe to spray lysol down my dryer vent?
Question:It smells sour down there, please help. I've already cleaned as much lint out as I could with my brushes and I was wondering if lysol would cause a fire?
Answers:
Have you removed the Dryer hose completely? After that if your in a home go out side where it vents out See if both there and inside if there is anything blocking or choked up. After a good checking and cleaning I see no problem spraying some Lysol into the hose or the pile thru the house. After spraying then give it some time to dry before you start your dryer.
If its smelling it seems that you may not have totally cleaned out the hose or pile thru the house. Or maybe it even empties into a lint trap in your basement and that could be clogged.
I would not spray it in the dryer vent, believe the propellent is flamable could start a fire I would remove the dryer vent tube clean and dry it are just buy a new one they are cheap
It is NOT okay to do that. You would be adding a flammable agent to existing material that is easily caught on fire. The best way to clean the vent is remove it. Consider also replacing it with a smoother one that lint does not bind on.
Also, the bad possibility is that a small animal may have found its way into the vent.
Try cleaning it out more. Use a vacuum with a hose attachment to do so. If it smells sour, sorry to say it but something could have died in it.
Well to start off with you shouldn't spray anything that close to a hot metal. if you do the fumes of the Lysol can catch on fire. WHy not try some baking soda instead. Just put some once a week and your smelly problem will go away.
no it wouldnt
Unhook your dryer vent and clean it out with soap and water. If that doesn't work then you should replace it. Never put anything in there that is flammable it's just asking for trouble.
