How can you get rid of static electricity in fabrics?
Question:I have a chiffony type of dress that goes all clingy with the (polyester?) lining. Is there a way to prevent this happening?
Answers:
They have sprays for static in the laundry isle of your local grocery store. you lightly spray the garment and it releases the static.
also when you launder your dress make sure you use a fabric softner sheet in the dryer. this will stop the static.
for a quick fix in a rush , take a dryer sheet and rub it over the lining. this should stop the static till you can do one of the above.
Buy a better quality dress next time
dont put it in the dryer dry it on the line & you'll be ok
Try rubbing dryer sheets over it. Also try steaming it, moisture may help.
PLACE A LIGHT BULB ON YOUR FABRICS TO USE UP ANY STATIC ELECTRICITY
Get a dryer sheet and run it across the dress.
There is a spray on product that does the same thing in the laundry aisle.
fabric softner, and only partially dry it. If you oversdry it this is when static builds up so take it out of the dryer and let it aor dry the rest of the way.
Either use a fabric softener when washing or a fabric softener sheet when drying. This should help
rub with dryer sheets also put the sheets in your load when you dry.
use fabric softener in the wash. not any kind will do though, try gain in the red bottle not only does it work well but smells great too
Use a softener in the wash or rub with a dryer sheet or buy the spray made for this problem in the laundry detergent section.
Use Bounce dryer pads in the dryer to get rid of the static cling.
Cheap hair spray. After dressing,Very lightly spray problem areas with cheap hair spray,(between lining and under side of dress, and also between lining and hose if wearing)This is how we did it in the 80s when poly. was big.
All good answers, but the fastest way is to use static guard. Its a spray.
