Why do people put that plastic bucket/ Rubbermaid/ container in the sink what is the reason for it, some even?

Question:Wash dishes in it; why not just use the sink,
Witch one is cleaner the stainless steel sink or the germ holding plastic container

Answers:
They're intended to be used when you don't have a split basin sink. If you have a single-basin sink, like I do, it's way more water efficient to wash in a little dishpan (maybe 5 gallons) than to fill up the whole silly thing (30 gallons) to wash dishes. Also, it's nice to have one place to wash, and another to rinse.

If you're talking about folks putting one in a split basin sink, I'm as befuddled as you are!

:-P

FYI: I disinfect mine every other day or so by soaking it in bleach water and/or scrubbing it with cleanser with bleach.

that would seem silly.i have never used one...and i too dont see the point in this. maybe it could make sense if they put it by the sink to soak the dishes in soapy water as a pre-wash or something? i do prefer the stainless steel! lol.
It's to help keep glassware from breaking on the stainless steel sink. If it's germ filled, use some Mr. Clean and a srubby once or twice a month to clean it.
I guess it's a matter of preference, I think the plastic container hold the water hotter longer, and there is less a chance that water would run all over the floor. And I bleach it in the same way I bleach the stainless steel sink. works for me.
I saw that this is quite common when I live in the UK and asked the same question. I believe it came about to conserve water but it also protects the finish on your sink. My Gran used to empty the dirty washing up water onto her roses to water them and deter bugs.
To answer your question with my best opinion some people don't like to have to remove stains and pot marks from the kitchen sink so they use plastic containers in them and still others think that plastic is easier to clean by just wiping down with a cloth and maybe a little bleach and it is done and others do it because it stops there dishes from getting broken without using a sink mat from Rubbermaid brand and this would tend to last longer than a sink mat also using a plastic container, there is so many upsides and downsides to this idea, but it is no cleaner to use No! your right about it not being germ free and I believe that either one is not germ free, they both should be cleaned with some type of disinfectant before and after use
70+ year old people do this. This is to conserve water. Wash your hands several times while baking, etc... During that time: you probably had quite a walk to bring a bucket of water to the house which was used cold. If you did heat up some water, you used it several times before you had to carry it outside to dump it.

My mom has had indoor plumbing and hot water since 1965 and still uses the rubber pan to occassionally rinse your hands during the day. Old habits hard to break.
