My dryer is pathetic!!?

Question:Hello,

My dryer used to be decent, but now it it is pretty weak. I have to dry each load 2 hours to get it dry, and when I open the door, steam comes out (which makes me think the wet air is not properly escaping). I got one of those dryer-cleaning kits and got all the lint out of the crevice where the lint trap goes, but it didn't help...

I have seen ads for a company that cleans the duct that the dryer is connected to, so is that what I need to have done? Or is the issue with the dryer itself? Please, anyone with insight into this would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!

Answers:
you may need a new heating element.

pull your dryer away from the wall and clean all the lint you can off of it, also clean the hose that vents it to the outside, if you get off all the lint you can and it still isnt working well then i would suggest calling a repair man and seeing what the problem is then
Sounds like she ain't venting, so go with the tool that cleans the duct.

Also, you may have a bird nest in the outside vent. Starlings (the worst birds on earth) tend to build in dryer vents.
Try cleaning the duct that connects the washer to the wall duct, and the wall duct itself. If you need to hire someone to do it, it's worth it, because a dirty duct is a serious fire hazard. But you may need to get the dryer serviced - cleaned and lubricated and adjusted.
One way to tell for sure.unhook the vent off the back of your dryer and dry a load. If it dries properly then you know you have a restriction somewhere in the vent that goes to the outside.
