How do you wash & dry nylons & knee-his?
Question:especially if they are a little stinky!!
Answers:
use lukewarm water in your bathroom sink with a couple of tablespoons of woolite detergent. Wash them a couple of times (be sure to take of any rings you may have on first, they tend to cause snags). Then rinse several times with lukewarm water. Stretch them out GENTLY until they reach their original shape, then lay flat to dry. Do not hang them up to dry, it puts too much stress on the fibers. If they are really smelly, try putting just a couple of drops of vinegar into the wash water with the woolite. This may seem like a lot of work if they are cheap nylons. And you're right, unless you paid over $25 for the pair or if you're broke and can't afford another pair and have to have them, I'd say trash them and buy some more.
by hand and drip dry do not use use the washing machine and dry.
put them in a pillow case and tie a not in the end toss in the wash then hang dry
by hand or in the delicate cycle in the washing machine. never put them in the dryer. just let the hang from something to dry.
Normally I just put them in a sink of cold water w/ a capful of Woolite (or generic alternative). Let sit for 30 minutes, returning once or twice to "sqwish" water through them. Then drain, rinse well and lay flat to dry.
I tie my nylons & knee hi's in a pillow case and wash them in the washing machine and dry them in the pillow case in dryer. I have washed them by hand and hung them up to drip dry.
To be honest, if you want them to last, by hand, in cold water... I usually use Woolite or a similar product and then hang them to dry. I don't have much room, so they hang in my shower/bathtub stall. LOL. You can get little clippies at most places... I found some today at Rite-Aid. The handwashing will keep them from getting trashed by the machine or anything it be getting washed with.
AND! Use the white vinegar! Not the cider!
Wash them by hand in the sink and then hang them to dry.
