Can get the cat piss smell out of an apt. did a lot of cleaning what can i do?
Question:I have an appt im renting out and the previous tenant let his cats use the place as a litter box for a year. I've rug doctored the carpet many times and it doesn't seem to smell anymore. i used odoban cleaner on the carpets and mopped the hardwood floors with many cleaner and odor eliminators. washed the walls opened windows and bleached the linoleum. I shut the windows overnight . I'll come back the next day and it still smells. Is it possible I'm missing the major issue and its smelling up the whole place? Everything looks clean. Im starting to paint the walls. could the cats have pissed in the back of the refrigerator ?

This is the trouble with cats. If not properly taken care of they can distroy any home or apt. We had the problem with our old neighbors at a place we rented and we could smell it through the walls. When they moved out our landlord tryed everything, it went unoccupied for 6 months until he broke down and replaced all the carpet and repainted and re-did everything because the smell was just everywhere. Wish I could give advice to help, but good luck!
Try Nature's Miracle. If that doesn't work.I have no idea.
It is virtually impossible to get rid of cat spray or urine odor once it has soaked into the place.
It will get worse on humid days.
get an air frshener and look for another apt.
Make the landlord change the carpet. I am sure it has soaked into the matt under the rug. Cleaning the carpet will not help that.
If the cats peed on the rug for over a year it soaked thru to the matting under the rug. This also happened to me and i could never get rid of the smell.Good Luck!
i have heard amonia-straight ) then blotting up if stained. obviously testing on carpet if there's spots, otherwise, put some in your carpet cleaner...then clean as normal. however, you'd be amazing where the have pissed.you probably need to tear that place apart and spray.
Painting the walls should help. The carpet smells fine? Because I would think the urine soaked into the floor boards, you would want to pour on a neutralizer, let it soak down and then keep sucking it as dry as you can. I did this once for dog urine when my great dane went through a stage.
good luck.
Too bad you shampooed the carpets already next time try pouring 7 up on it before you shampoo. It is sticky but it works!
